Indy Eviction Data Dashboard
A data dashboard pulls data from multiple sources and displays it as charts, graphs, maps, and numbers, allowing you to identify patterns and make informed decisions.
This dashboard provides an overview of eviction filling data in Indianapolis, allowing users to explore trends and patterns in eviction filings. Data is sourced from public records and updated regularly.
Please check out our methodology below for more details on data sources and methods for data organization and visualization.
Key Metrics Test
Key Metrics show the total number of eviction cases filed in the current week, month, and year. These numbers are updated daily.
Eviction Filing Trends
Eviction filing trends refer to patterns over time and/or space in how often landlords formally start the legal process to remove tenants from their homes.
Here we show the total number of eviction cases filed this year for every small claims court in Marion County and Marion Superior Court. Overall, Center Township Small Claims Court and Wayne Township Small Claims Court are the two courts with the largest number of eviction cases filed this year.
Below, we present two graphs showing the number of eviction cases filed in Marion County each month and the cumulative number of eviction cases filed by month throughout this year.

Methodology
The Indy Housing Project Eviction Data Dashboard uses publicly available court records obtained through a subscription agreement with Doxpop, a third-party judicial information service that maintains data-sharing relationships with courts throughout Indiana and Michigan. All data collection and use occur in accordance with the terms and conditions established by Doxpop.
Doxpop aggregates and distributes court information from township, circuit, superior, and state courts, providing near real-time access to judicial records as they become available through participating court systems. For this dashboard, records are limited to eviction filings originating within Marion County, Indiana.
Eviction cases are identified using Indiana's case classification system. Specifically, filings are selected based on the presence of the "EV" case type designation within the court case number (also referred to as the docket number or case number). Records meeting this criterion are extracted and incorporated into the project database.
Once retrieved, case records are processed through a series of automated scripts developed specifically for this project by Kristina Hartley with Anymouse, LLC. These scripts clean, organize, and aggregate the data to produce measures and visualizations related to eviction activity across Marion County. Analyses include, but are not limited to:
Total eviction filings by week, month, and year
Geographic distribution of filings by census tract
Geographic distribution of filings by ZIP code
Neighborhood-level analyses within Indianapolis
Longitudinal trends and changes over time
Additional metrics derived from available court filing information
Data Refresh Schedule
Dashboard data are refreshed automatically periodically throughout the week. Historical records may be updated periodically as court records are corrected or amended.
Important Notes and Limitations
This dashboard reports eviction filings, not completed evictions or displacement events. A filing represents the initiation of a legal action and does not indicate the outcome of a case. Some filings may be dismissed, resolved through agreement, or otherwise not result in a physical eviction.
As of June 2026, we are currently working to develop reporting tools for completed evictions, displacements, and modified agreements. Updates will be communicated when those efforts result in new data reporting. Court records are subject to reporting delays, corrections, and updates by the originating courts. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy and timely updates, data displayed on the dashboard should be considered provisional and may change as court records are updated.
The dashboard is intended to support public understanding of eviction trends, identify areas experiencing elevated filing activity, and inform policy, service delivery, and community responses to housing instability.
Free Use for Public Interests
Data processing, aggregation, filtering, and visualization are performed through custom software developed by by Kristina Hartley with Anymouse, LLC. These tools were designed to support transparency, replicability, and adaptation by other communities with access to Doxpop court records. These scripts are available to use under license for free. Communities interested in implementing similar dashboards may access the project scripts and technical documentation here.
